Let me tell you a bit about how an why we designed the midbass horns the way we did.A few years ago we discovered the tractrix horn for MF use. It was really the most important improvement so far. No more honking exponential horn so...

Here are two guys in Belgium that made up 833A 150W amp. That might be a good candidate for driving ULF channels.

It looks to me that I will be able to live with my 6 driver
line array. Again no measurements were made but it is what it “looks”. Sound-wise it is very reputable and I just might
leave it as is. My current room is 6 larger to what I had in downto...

My Placete preamp was sitting in Idaho for update for a
long time, so there was not a lot of audio activity lately. Also, the last few
month there was a lot of things going on in my life that severely compromised my
audio rotation. It is summer an...

You might find that you don't need that much power. When I first built the ULF channels I assumed they would require loads of power, so I bought a single, mono, 1KW class D amp to use in testing. Then I tried driving them with a pair of M1.1s that I h...

Romy, if the room supports it, why not put the lowest channel there?OTOH, if two big woofers are to fire at 180 degrees, is 3' far enough apart to preclude cancellation from rarefaction?Lots of ink has been spilled on the subject of ULF over the last...

Yes, David, I have seen the Rotary woofer and have thought about it. I never heard it, have seen it 2-3 times in systems in Vegas but they never played it what I was in room. With know how it sound and what is able to do it is very difficult to me a...
However, as soon the LF begin to inflict a listener with own ‘"pulsating room effect" then the volume of LF should be minimized"
Here is where the beauty of my new room to the play. Where I was “selecting” this room via my...

You have to consider the latency in DSP ULF solutions (regardless of filter settings). It is considerable and if the rest of the system is phase aligned, there may be some problems in location of the ULF drivers.

Today is a first great warm day in Boston and was working at my yard, fixing the fence around the pool. I was good 120-150 feet away from my listening room, pretty much in the forest, the large French doors to the room were opened and the playback wa...
If the issue is merely to recreate a better sense of the live performance….
It might be not “recreate a better sense of the live performance” but rather to be able to administer in my own and deliberate way some “listening...
I need to care just one octave at my 25Hz bump,I have tried the same solution in a big room, the thing is that we not only got output at 25 hz, but a lot also at 50 hz! There was no way surgically cut it to what we needed and the...
Anyhow, I did the measurements today and what I saw shocked me. Of the ULF sections has nice 20Hz at MF level then they have +12dB at 60Hz level. That explains everything but it also absolutely clearly indicates that the se...
The major minor thing remains to find different lower bass. I said “minor” thing as my lower bass is not bad, in fact I do insist that it is very proper lower bass as I did set it up lately properly…..Despite that I in...

For a casual observer it might appear that I am constantly fought with my ULF, finding and loosing better and worse configurations. It might be so but I have a very strong sense of objective of what I would like to accomplish. I want to reinstat...

I have with bass not a problem but dilemma. I do not have problematic bass but I have a dilemma how to supplement my current bass with ULF without affecting my current bass. Adding ULF defuses my current bass, renders the bass phasing to be more ...

Rakesh,
Yes, life is too short but the definition of belter ULF channel is not something that one might learn during "a project next coming weekend". The most important in audio is a state of realization and obtaining this state is a matter of...

Rakesh, if Romy's ULF is "faultless" at this point, then he should play the lottary - once. Perhaps part of the quandry stems from confusing "bass" with ULF. Once you let go of that, it better falls into place. As for the pops, clicks, tape hiss, et...

I have today a local audio guy stop by at my place for some listening. He never was in my new place and was curios what have done with my new room and my new installation; he was in my old room. When I asked him to criticize what he heard he mention ...

As good as my ULF turned out to be but purely conceptually it is not an ultimate proper playback solution. I have midbass horns runs down to 42Hz and ULF kicks in at 25Hz with 3rg order. In reality does to the geometry of my room and the fact the dis...

Sounds like you have your system in your room the way you want it. I am looking for a ULF solution that has some flexibility, something I can use in a different room later without starting over. I've been thinking for some time about DSP for ULF. ...
Instead of defining the ULF range from the reproduced instruments, it is much smarter to do it based on the first resonance frequency of the listening room, because the frequency response of a closed room has a 12dB/oct rise in ...

It is not about Dynamic Range per say but about dymick differences that I feel and that I care with good ULF he effect of rising of acoustic and tonal pressure is instant, very soft but absolutely instantaneous. Live music has feel like literally...

Scott L., I am not stuck on IB, but I am pretty well stuck on lighter-coned drivers that I develop for tonality, apropos. I actually have several "light", 30" cones and giant motors sitting around that I aim to try in large enclosures, "someday". Bu...
BTW, I spent today almost half of day conducting the experiments with my ULF and I think I did found the problem that was implanted into my enter ULF project so far. As I have time I will write a report. I am with 99% confi...

Until people actually start to listen to and correlate well-determined sound with pieces and parts, they are going to continue to spend money on BS "engineering" ideas rather than listening their way through Musical options. "Underhung" and "Per...

I am actually doing the bass and ULF with different modules and amps. My bass modules are the dual tad boxes driven with their dedicated monoblock solid state amplification. The tapped horn is working for ULF only as it is crossed at 30hz with 18db. ...

Last and this weeks I played mostly LP records. I have only one arm and one needle setup after my move to new room – I did not decide that what final configuration I will have for my analog. Today, while I am in Brahms wave I played the entire box of...
